Crisis
Camp UK brings together a diverse mix of people and experts
from the voluntary, private, public and emergency services to explore how technology can improve humanitarian crisis management and disaster relief.
The recent threat of a pandemic flu outbreak raised questions about the ability of people to connect with each other and work collaboratively with emergency services and relief agencies during times of crisis.
Crisis Camp UK aims to address how to tackle:
1. Crisis management of congested cities compared with rural areas;
2. Crisis communication and how social media can be used in times of crisis;
3. Crisis collaboration between government, agencies, citizens and the media; and
4. Mobilising existing emergency/voluntary networks and creating new ones to aid rapid responses to crisis.
This is an
unstructured event where attendees participate, learn, share, discuss, interact and solve problems in an open environment. Anyone can attend, participate, and present. There is no formal structure to the day other than set lunch and break times.
In preparation for the event please post any themes / topics that you wish to discuss and or hear about on the day using this site. Also, DO NOT FORGET TO REGISTER your attendance using the
eventbrite page.
This event will be held simultaneously with Crisis Camp US and will be
live streamed. Australia and Canada have also expressed an interest in
joining the discussions.
We look forward to a creative and constructive event that sets the benchmark for social action in times of crisis.
